A standard 140 m³ truck carries about 1,400 bags of 100 L of loose coir pith. At a bulk density of about 95 kg/m³, the load weighs around 13.3 tonnes.[4] The load is limited by volume, not by weight. Loose pith is sold by volume, and the actual weight of each bag, the density and the moisture of the lot are printed on the label.[4]

02 · How the load weight is calculated.
- Load weight = body volume × bulk density of the lot. For 140 m³ at 95 kg/m³, 13.3 t; at 90 kg/m³, 12.6 t.[4]
- The bulk density of dry-husk coir pith is below 0.09 g/cm³ according to EMBRAPA, at a sun-drying moisture of 15 to 20 %.[1]
- Moisture changes density little: about 1.07 % more per percentage point of moisture. Particle size changes it a lot: halve the particle, and density rises about 26 %.[2]
- Because the sale is by volume, moisture is neutral for the buyer. When converting a quotation to tonnes, use the declared density and state whether moisture is on a wet or dry basis.[4]

03 · What goes in each bag.
- 100 L woven bag, loose fill, not pressed.[4]
- Label with the lot QR code. The QR opens the lot report with the five bench tests, the origin of the husk and the processing date.[4]
- The label states the lot number, the product, the 100 L volume, the net weight, the lot density and the moisture at packing.[5]
- Bags are filled by weight, calibrated by volume: for each lot, exactly 100 L is weighed in a calibration container, and that weight becomes the target for every bag.[5]
04 · Coir fiber and compressed formats.
- Carve's coir fiber ships in bales of loose fiber, pressed for transport; weight and volume on request.[4]
- Loose fiber density is around 55 to 80 kg/m³, with the actual value per lot.[4]
- In international trade coir pith travels compressed: blocks at 5:1 and slabs at 4:1, with moisture below 20 % before compression, and it returns to working volume with water.[3]
- For buyers inside Brazil, the loose 100 L bag needs no pressing or hydration and arrives ready to use.

05 · How to check a load on arrival.
- Count the bags and compare with the invoice and packing list.
- Weigh a sample of bags on any scale and compare with the net weight on the label. The declared tolerance is plus or minus 5 %.[5]
- Open the QR on a bag and check EC, pH, moisture and density of the lot against the contract limit. What each number means is in Coir pith lot report (COA).
- Bags can settle with transport vibration; the declared volume is the volume filled at packing.[5]

How many 100 L bags of coir pith fit on a truck?
About 1,400 bags of 100 L on a standard 140 m³ truck, the full-load format Carve uses for loose coir pith. The count is the body volume divided by the bag volume; the exact number depends on how the bags are arranged in the body.
How much does a truckload of coir pith weigh?
About 13.3 tonnes for 140 m³ of loose coir pith at 95 kg/m³, the top of the bulk density range declared on the data sheet (90 to 95 kg/m³). At the bottom of the range, 90 kg/m³, the same truck weighs about 12.6 tonnes. The actual weight depends on the moisture and particle size of the lot and is printed on every bag.
Is a coir pith load limited by weight or by volume?
By volume. At about 13 tonnes in 140 m³, the body fills long before the truck reaches its weight limit. This is why loose coir pith travels poorly over long distances and the industry compresses it into 5:1 blocks for export; inside Brazil the loose 100 L bag avoids pressing and hydration.
How much does each 100 L bag of coir pith weigh?
About 9 to 9.5 kg, at a bulk density of 90 to 95 kg/m³ and 15-20 % moisture. The net weight and the measured density of the lot are on the label of every bag, with a declared tolerance of plus or minus 5 %, and the QR opens the lot report with the measured moisture.
Does Carve ship full loads or smaller lots?
