Coir pith and coir fiber blended in a ratio defined by the customer.
Pith and fiber blend. Adjustable pith/fiber ratio, total porosity above 94%. Natural or washed. Lot analysis report with every shipment.
What coir mix is
Coir mix is the combination of coir pith and coir fiber from the mature dry coconut husk, blended in the ratio the customer defines. The pith/fiber ratio determines the water holding and the aeration of the substrate, and it is adjusted to the customer's specification.
Available natural (unwashed) or washed (reduced EC). Pith/fiber ratio, particle size and washing level are all defined in the contract with the customer.
Ratio defined by the customer.
The ratio between pith and fiber defines how the substrate behaves. The pith/fiber ratio is set per order. Each customer can ask for more water holding (more pith) or more aeration (more fiber).
Technical data sheet
The values below are the product's minimum guarantees. The actual values for each lot are measured, printed on the bag and accessible through the QR code. To receive the full analysis report for a specific lot, contact us.
Control per lot
Every lot is analysed before dispatch. Lots with parameters outside the agreed range are held back.
Who coir mix is for
Ornamental and decorative containers
Recommended. Ornamental containers and landscaping.
Landscaping and ground cover
Recommended. Direct use.
Vegetables in containers and protected beds
Recommended with a contractual EC limit.
Substrate manufacturers
Recommended. Natural or washed.
Forestry and ornamental nurseries
Recommended with a contractual EC limit.
Seed sowing and sensitive crops
Recommended in the washed version.
The recommendation depends on the crop's tolerance to the electrical conductivity (EC) of the substrate. We measure the EC of every lot and the acceptance limit is fixed in the contract. If your application requires low EC, ask about the washed product options.
Natural or washed
Dry coconut husk, natural EC 0.8–1.5 mS/cm. Washing available to reduce EC as the crop requires.
| Treatment | EC (1:5) | Suited crops |
|---|---|---|
| Natural (unwashed) | 0.8–1.5 mS/cm | Coffee, clonal eucalyptus, citrus, landscaping, leafy vegetables |
| Standard washed | 0.4–0.8 mS/cm | Potted ornamentals, forestry seedlings, semi-hydroponic vegetables |
| Low washed | ≤0.4 mS/cm | Strawberry, tomato, flowers, orchids, seed sowing, organics |
EC measured on every lot. The washing level is defined in the contract with the customer.
Natural or washed
Origin: dry coconut husk, Brazil.
Dry coconut husk, harvested from the tree. No contact with brackish water, no rehydration. Organic matter is naturally high. Natural EC can vary, which is why we measure every lot and fix the limit in the contract.

Frequently asked questions
What is the pith-to-fiber ratio in coir mix?
The ratio between coir pith and coir fiber is set by the customer according to the application: more pith raises water holding, more fiber raises aeration. The standard reference delivers about 400 ml/L of water holding, but the ratio is adjusted per order and fixed in the contract.
Is coir mix washed?
Coir mix is supplied natural (unwashed) or washed, with EC measured and reported per lot. Washed Standard runs 0.4 to 0.8 mS/cm and Washed Low 0.4 or below; the washing level is set in the contract with the customer.
What is the bulk density of coir mix?
Bulk density runs 90 to 110 kg/m³, varying with the pith-to-fiber ratio in the blend. The actual value for each lot is measured and printed on the bag.
Which applications is coir mix suited for?
Ornamental and decorative containers, landscaping and ground cover, vegetables in containers and protected beds, forestry and ornamental nurseries, and substrate manufacturers with a contractual EC ceiling. For seed sowing and sensitive crops we recommend the washed grade.
What comes with every lot of coir mix?
Every bag carries a QR code that opens the lot report with measured EC, pH and moisture, and the production date. A lot outside the contracted limit is not dispatched.
