What is bristle fiber?

Longer, stiffer fibers extracted from the outer mesocarp of mature coconut husk. Bristle fiber is typically 15–30 cm in length and has higher tensile strength than mattress fiber. Used for brushes, brooms, mattresses, geotextiles and erosion-control mats. In Brazil, bristle fiber is separated mechanically during dry decorticating.
