What is dry mechanical processing?

Method of separating fiber and pith from coconut husk using mechanical equipment without prior water retting. Dry processing avoids the salt contamination risk of brackish-water retting and produces more consistent pith quality. It is the standard method in Brazil and is increasingly adopted in producing countries that traditionally used water retting.
