What is wettability?

Ease and speed with which a dry substrate absorbs water during rehydration. Substrates with slow wettability take longer to expand from compressed blocks, potentially requiring surfactants or extended soaking. Coir dried below 8% moisture can become temporarily hydrophobic. Wettability testing measures time to full saturation under standardized conditions.
