01 · Direct answer.
Raw brown coir fibre of the mattress or mixed type traded at roughly US$100–225 per tonne FOB from Asian origins in 2025–2026, and China, the largest buyer, paid US$188–207 per tonne CIF in 2025.[1][3][4] Combed bristle fibre sells at five to seven times that. Prices rose through 2025 and corrected in the first half of 2026.[3] Every figure below comes from an official or industry body; Carve's own price is not published and is quoted per order.

06 · India fibre exports.
India exported 176,135 t of coir fibre (bristle, mattress, short, bit and decorticated) for US$32.87 million in January–May 2026, about US$187 per tonne FOB. Its coir pith exports in 2025 averaged about US$510 per tonne, which shows how far fibre sits below pith in value.[3]
07 · Brazil export unit values.
Brazil's genuine coir exports, from Ceará to the Netherlands, averaged US$267 per tonne FOB from October 2025 to August 2026 (US$252–300 by month), and the Dutch import statistics record €292–328 per tonne CIF for the same flow.[5][6] The customs code cannot tell fibre from pith, so the flow may include pith. Brazil's much larger exports under the same code, at about US$1,120 per tonne, are sisal from Bahia. Full series and CSV: Brazil coir fibre exports: HS 5305 data.
08 · How to read these numbers.
- FOB, CIF, ex-mill: ex-mill is the price at the mill in the origin country; FOB adds inland transport, baling and port costs; CIF adds ocean freight and insurance to the destination port.
- Unit values are averages across grades, qualities and contracts within a customs line; a single contract can sit well above or below them.
- Grade matters more than origin: within Sri Lanka, bristle fibre exported at about seven times the mattress-fibre value in the first half of 2026.[1]
- Payload changes the landed cost: fibre bales ship by weight per container, so bale density changes freight per tonne.

09 · Frequently asked questions.
What is the price of coir fibre per tonne in 2026?
It depends on the grade and the basis. Sri Lanka's mattress fibre exported at about US$223 per tonne in the first half of 2026 and bristle fibre at about US$1,610 (CDA). China paid US$188–207 per tonne CIF for coir from its Asian suppliers in 2025 (UN Comtrade). The ICC's Indonesian coir fibre series stood at US$105 per tonne FOB in September 2026.
Why is bristle fibre so much more expensive than mattress fibre?
Bristle is the longest fibre, combed and sorted by hand into bundles, and it is made in small volumes for brushes and brooms. Mattress and mixed fibre are unsorted or shorter and sell by the container load.
Did coir fibre prices fall in 2026?
Yes. The ICC describes 2025 as a bullish cycle and the first half of 2026 as a correction: its Sri Lankan fibre series fell from US$121 to US$89 per tonne between January and June 2026, and the Indonesian series from US$170 to US$145.
Does Carve publish its own fibre price?
No. This page reproduces third-party benchmarks only. Carve quotes FOB Pecém per order, according to specification, bale format and volume.
