What is compression ratio?

The volume reduction achieved during mechanical pressing of coir pith or fiber. Expressed as a ratio of uncompressed to compressed volume. Compressed blocks: 5:1 to 8:1. Slabs and grow bags: typically 4:1. Higher compression ratios reduce shipping costs but require more press energy and may affect rehydration speed.
