What is a green coconut?

Immature coconut fruit harvested at 6–8 months primarily for coconut water. The husk of a green coconut comprises 80–85% of gross fruit weight and has a much higher moisture content than dry husk. Green husk is not traditionally processed by the fiber industry but represents a large waste stream in Brazil, where coconut water consumption generates millions of husks annually.
