Harmonized System code used worldwide for customs classification of traded goods. Coir fiber is classified under HS 5305. Coir pith and coir-based growing media have varying classifications depending on the destination country (some classify under HS 5305, others under HS 6815 or tariff headings for prepared growing media). Correct HS code selection affects duty rates, phytosanitary requirements and trade statistics.
