What is the Dutch Peat Covenant?

Binding agreement signed in 2022 between the Dutch government, substrate industry and horticultural sector for progressive reduction of peat in growing media. Target: 50% of substrate raw materials from renewable sources (including coir) by 2030. The Covenant drives demand for coir in Northern Europe and sets quality and certification requirements (RPP for peat, RHP for alternatives).
