Instrução Normativa number 5 of 2016, issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA). Defines mandatory guarantee parameters for substrates sold in Brazil: electrical conductivity, pH, water-holding capacity (capacidade de retenção de água), bulk density and moisture content. Producers must declare these parameters on product labels. IN MAPA 5/2016 is the regulatory framework for the Brazilian substrate market.
