What is Trichoderma?

Genus of beneficial soil fungi widely used as biological control agents against plant pathogens including Fusarium, Rhizoctonia and Pythium. Some coir substrate producers inoculate their products with Trichoderma species for disease suppression in the root zone. Trichoderma colonizes the substrate and competes with or parasitizes pathogenic fungi, reducing the need for chemical fungicides.
